Important part-number distinction
- RM2-5906 is the secondary transfer roller only.
- It is not the complete intermediate transfer belt assembly, which is generally identified as RM2-5907 on these platforms.
- It is not a fuser, paper pickup roller, feed roller or separation roller.
- HP M377, M452, M453, M454, M455, M477, M479 and related models generally use the different RM2-6455 secondary transfer roller family.
Possible signs of transfer-roller wear
Similar print defects may also be caused by toner cartridges, imaging drums, the intermediate transfer belt, high-voltage contacts or the fuser. Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing parts.
Installation guidance
The transfer roller is installed inside the rear-door or duplexing-door area. Installation is relatively straightforward for an experienced technician, but careful handling is essential.
- Turn the printer off and disconnect its power cable before service.
- Avoid touching the roller surface with bare fingers.
- Handle the roller by its shaft ends or bushings whenever possible.
- Do not clean the roller with alcohol, solvents or abrasive materials.
- Remove loose toner from the surrounding area without scratching the transfer belt.
- Confirm that the bushings and retaining tabs are properly seated before closing the rear door.
Fitment verification: For the most reliable match, compare the original part with RM2-5906, RM2-5906-000 or RM2-5906-000CN before ordering. Only the secondary transfer roller is included; the RM2-5907 transfer-belt assembly and rear door are sold separately.
