Printer Buy Back & Recycling

Turn surplus printers into value—not landfill waste.

The Printer Depot purchases eligible printers and fuser cores, provides depot repair and exchange services, and helps organizations responsibly manage unwanted printer equipment.

Every year, we properly recycle more than 100 tons of printers and printer consumables that might otherwise be irresponsibly sent to landfills.

Responsible Printer Recovery at Scale

Printers contain plastics, metals, electronic components and reusable parts that should not be treated as ordinary trash. When this equipment is discarded in a landfill, valuable resources are lost and electronic waste can remain in the environment for generations.

The Printer Depot prioritizes repair, reuse, parts recovery and responsible recycling. Equipment that cannot be returned to service is processed through appropriate recycling channels to help keep printer-related waste out of landfills.

Our programs help:

  • Extend the useful life of printer equipment

  • Recover reusable parts, metals and other materials

  • Reduce unnecessary manufacturing and resource consumption

  • Keep printers and consumables out of landfills

  • Support a more responsible, circular electronics industry

Printers and Parts We Purchase

We actively purchase the following equipment in any condition:

HP LaserJet Printers

HP LaserJet printers manufactured in 2003 or later.

Lexmark Printers

Lexmark MS Series printers.

Zebra Printers

Zebra GK, ZD and ZT Series printers.

Fuser Cores

  • HP LaserJet fuser cores

  • Lexmark MS Series fuser cores

Working, damaged, incomplete and nonworking equipment may all qualify for evaluation. Offers are based on model, age, condition, quantity, location, transportation requirements and current recovery value.

Equipment We Accept for Recycling but Do Not Purchase

We do not purchase other printer brands or models. We also do not purchase inkjet printers or devices that use liquid-based ink cartridges or refillable ink tanks.

However, we may accept these devices for responsible recycling.

Please contact The Printer Depot before delivering or shipping any equipment. Acceptance depends on the equipment type, quantity, location and transportation requirements.

A Specialized Downstream Partner for R2v3 Recyclers

The Printer Depot welcomes partnership opportunities with R2v3-certified electronics recycling companies seeking a knowledgeable downstream outlet for printers, printer components and related consumables.

We understand the importance of responsible downstream management, data security, equipment accountability and maximizing reuse before material recovery.

The Printer Depot has served as a downstream partner for over 100 R2v3-certified electronics recycling companies. We continually strive to follow R2-aligned practices while providing a specialized recovery channel for printer-related equipment.

If your facility regularly receives printers, fuser cores or printer consumables, we invite you to contact us to discuss an ongoing downstream relationship.

Secure Data Handling

Data security is an important part of our printer buyback and recycling process.

Every product received through our programs is evaluated for data-bearing components. Any stored data is securely wiped and/or the data-bearing component is physically destroyed, as appropriate.

Our goal is to provide secure, accountable and environmentally responsible handling from the time equipment is received through its final reuse, recovery or recycling destination.

Trusted by Organizations Across Industry

The Printer Depot works closely with organizations that need dependable, secure and environmentally responsible equipment handling, including:

  • Information technology firms

  • School districts

  • Private and state-operated medical facilities

  • Fortune 500 companies

  • R2v3-certified electronics recycling companies

  • Other established organizations and industry leaders

Every project is different. We work with our customers and recycling partners to develop practical solutions based on equipment type, quantity, condition, security requirements and transportation needs.

Pallet and Large-Quantity Buyback Programs

If you have at least one pallet of eligible equipment, contact us directly for a cash buyback or store-credit evaluation.

Transportation is a critical part of every offer. Individuals and organizations offering palletized equipment must be able to:

  • Properly wrap and secure each pallet

  • Band the equipment to the pallet

  • Provide safe access for a commercial semi-truck

  • Load the equipment using a commercial loading dock or forklift

A commercial pickup area accessible to a semi-truck with a liftgate may also qualify.

All equipment must be safely prepared and accessible before transportation can be arranged.

Single Printers and North Texas Pickup

Transportation costs have a significant effect on equipment value.

If you have a single printer located outside North Texas, it may not be economically practical for us to accept it as a trade-in or purchase. We may make exceptions for higher-value equipment.

Customers with multiple printers, pallet quantities or especially valuable equipment are encouraged to contact us for an individual evaluation.

Depot Repair and Equipment Exchange

Replacing an entire printer fleet is not always necessary. Repairing existing equipment can reduce costs, extend its usable life and prevent unnecessary electronic waste.

The Printer Depot offers depot repair services for organizations with multiple devices requiring service. Depending on the equipment and project requirements, we can quote:

  • Repair of your existing equipment

  • Exchange for replacement equipment

  • Store credit toward other equipment

  • Purchase of qualifying surplus printers

Contact us to discuss the most practical and environmentally responsible option for your organization.

Need to Recycle Another Type of Printer?

If your equipment does not qualify for our buyback program, we recommend locating an R2-certified electronics recycling center near you.

Tell the recycler that The Printer Depot referred you, and ask its team to contact us. We are always interested in developing relationships with responsible recyclers that share our commitment to keeping printers and printer consumables out of landfills.
