The scanner control board is part of the MFP's document-scanning system, connecting scanner functions with the printer's electronics. It is a service component for repairs where a scanner control board fault has been confirmed.
Choose the exact configuration.
An M631, M632, M633 or Managed series name alone does not identify the correct scanner board. Use the full model, product number and original board label to distinguish standard scanner electronics from Flow electronics.
Part identification
Compatibility requires a board match.
The tables below identify the standard SCB service-board family. J8A08-60001 is commonly used as the board identification associated with the earlier standard assembly. Match the board fitted in your printer. A current 5851-7764 service-kit reference does not, by itself, confirm that every earlier J8A08-60001 board revision can be installed in that printer.
Original standard-board model references
These models belong to the original standard SCB service family. Purchase only when the installed board and scanner configuration match.
Additional standard SCB family models
HP documentation associates these newer models with the current standard service assembly, 5851-7764. Compatibility with this earlier J8A08-60001 board must be confirmed by the original board label and revision before ordering.
Configured-to-order printers
HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M637 configured-to-order products also appear in the standard SCB service-family references. The exact scanner configuration must be checked using the printer's serial number and original board. M637 is not offered as an unconditional fit under this listing.
Flow models require a different board.
Do not substitute this standard-board configuration for the Flow SCB specified as 5851-7347. This includes Flow M631h, Flow M632z, Flow M633z, Flow M634h, Flow M635z, Flow M636z, Flow M681f, Flow M681z and Flow M682z, together with Managed Flow E62565h, E62565z, E62575z, E62665h, E62665z, E62675z and E67560z.
M681f distinction: Standard M681f is J8A11A; Flow M681f is J8A12A. E67650dh and E67660z are not included as verified fits for J8A08-60001. M630 and M776 series compatibility has not been established for this board.
Installation and diagnosis
Installation should be performed by a qualified printer technician following the service procedure for the exact model. Power off and disconnect the printer before service, use electrostatic-discharge precautions and handle ribbon-cable latches carefully.
Check firmware and cable connections as part of diagnosis. A scanner error alone does not establish that the SCB has failed. After installation, verify initialization, flatbed scanning, document-feeder scanning and copying.
