The E40040dn delivers up to 40 pages per minute on Letter-size paper, increasing to as much as 42 ppm with HP High Speed Mode. First-page output is as fast as approximately 6.3 seconds from Ready mode.
Multiple toner options.
The E40040dn Managed platform supports its dedicated Managed toner configuration while sharing cartridge architecture with select HP 58-series supplies.
Cartridge availability and recognition can vary by cartridge chip revision, region and printer firmware. “58JC” is used here as a cartridge cross-reference for applicable CF258X(J)-family configurations and is not represented as an official HP retail cartridge designation.
Ready for modern computers.
The E40040dn supports Windows 11 and can be used with macOS 27 through Apple's built-in AirPrint printing architecture.
350 sheets standard. Expandable to 900.
The standard configuration combines a 100-sheet multipurpose tray with a 250-sheet main cassette. Add the optional 550-sheet feeder for larger workgroups and longer unattended print runs.
Automatic two-sided printing.
Built-in automatic duplex printing makes it easy to produce professional two-sided documents while reducing paper consumption and keeping large print jobs compact.
Built for network deployment.
Standard Gigabit Ethernet provides dependable wired connectivity for business networks, while optional Jetdirect accessories can add wireless functionality when required.
Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, BLE and NFC require the appropriate optional Jetdirect wireless accessory and are not standard on the base E40040dn.
Designed for consistent business printing.
With a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 120,000 pages and an HP-recommended monthly print volume of 1,500 to 7,500 pages, the E40040dn is well suited to active business and workgroup environments.
