This Is MICR Toner for Printing Checks
This is not an ordinary black toner cartridge. It contains specially formulated magnetic MICR toner intended for printing the routing, account, and check-number information located along the bottom of properly formatted checks.
A Dedicated Toner Cartridge for Check Production
The Q2612A(M) is a specialty remanufactured toner cartridge created specifically for printing authorized checks and MICR-encoded financial documents. Its magnetic toner formulation allows correctly printed MICR characters to be recognized by compatible check-processing equipment.
MICR, or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, is used for the machine-readable line printed along the bottom of a check. This line may contain the financial institution’s routing number, the account number, and the individual check number.
When combined with properly formatted check-printing software, suitable MICR fonts, approved check stock, and a compatible HP LaserJet printer, this cartridge provides a convenient in-house check-printing solution.

What Else Is Required to Print Checks?
MICR toner is an essential part of the check-printing process, but the toner cartridge alone does not create a properly formatted or bank-readable check.
- Approved blank check stock
- Authorized check-printing or accounting software
- A properly licensed MICR font
- Correct routing, account, and check-number information
- A properly maintained compatible HP LaserJet printer
Cartridge Installation
Turn off the printer, allow it to cool, and open the cartridge-access door.
Remove the existing cartridge by its handle.
Gently rock the MICR cartridge from side to side to distribute the toner.
Remove all protective materials and pull the sealing strip straight out.
Install the cartridge and print a test check before producing live financial documents.
