Match the cartridge
Confirm the 055H cartridge number, printer region, and correct black, cyan, magenta, or yellow chip.

Remove carefully
Remove the old chip without damaging the cartridge housing, retaining tabs, or surrounding components.

Install in position
Fit the replacement chip in the same orientation. Avoid touching or contaminating its electrical contacts.

Reinstall and verify
Install the serviced cartridge, power on the printer, and confirm recognition before beginning a large print job.
Handling precaution: Protect the chips from static electricity, moisture, impact, excessive heat, fingerprints, toner dust, and metal tools that could bridge the electrical contacts.
Troubleshooting after installation
Cartridge not recognized
Confirm chip orientation, color, contact cleanliness, printer region, firmware compatibility, and secure installation.
Low-toner message remains
Reseat the cartridge and verify that the correct new chip was installed. Toner-status behavior can vary by chip and firmware.
Faded or missing color
Check the cartridge’s toner level, drum, developer roller, seals, and internal condition. A chip does not correct mechanical print defects.
Toner leakage
Remove the cartridge and inspect its seals and housing. Leakage is a cartridge issue and is not corrected by replacing the chip.
