Before installation.
Confirm that the fault has been diagnosed to the ADF. Feeding and scanning problems can also involve rollers, cables, the flatbed scanner, or the scanner control board; replacing the whole ADF will not resolve every scanner error.
Have a qualified technician follow the HP service procedure for your exact model. Power down and disconnect the printer before service, protect the cable connections, complete any specified setup or calibration, and verify both one-sided and two-sided document feeding after installation.
