One of the most common failures associated with these HP pickup solenoids is deterioration of the original factory dampening pad. As the factory material ages, it can become compressed, sticky, or deteriorated, causing the solenoid armature to release inconsistently.
This solenoid has been fitted with our custom replacement dampening pad, specifically selected to eliminate the deterioration associated with the original material.
Our replacement pad design has been tested beyond 500,000 printed pages.
A Small Part That Can Cause Major Paper-Feed Problems
The pickup solenoid controls the timing of the paper pickup mechanism. When the solenoid becomes slow or begins sticking, the printer can release the pickup mechanism at the wrong time and create paper-feed problems that are often incorrectly blamed on worn pickup rollers.
Replacing the affected solenoid can restore correct pickup timing without replacing an entire paper pickup drive assembly.
Common Symptoms of a Failing Pickup Solenoid
- Paper jams shortly after pickup from Tray 2
- Intermittent Tray 2 misfeeds
- Printer feeds correctly from Tray 1 but jams from the cassette
- Delayed or inconsistent paper pickup
- Paper entering the print path at the incorrect time
- Repeating 13.xx paper-jam errors
- Pickup roller appears good but paper-feed problems continue
- Printer pauses or develops an inconsistent rhythm during paper pickup
Canon Compatibility
RK2-0269 and RK2-0270 are commonly encountered as Canon-manufactured components within HP LaserJet print engines; however, no Canon-branded printer model has been verified for this exact solenoid application. Compatibility listed above is therefore limited to verified HP LaserJet platforms.
Installation
Replacement requires access to the printer's paper pickup drive system and removal of the existing solenoid. Exact installation location varies slightly between printer families and optional feeder configurations.
Installation by an experienced printer technician is recommended. Always disconnect the printer from electrical power before performing internal service.
Important Compatibility Note
This listing is for the pickup solenoid assembly with upgraded custom dampening pad. Pickup rollers, feed rollers, separation rollers, pickup drive assemblies, paper trays, and other paper-handling components are not included.
Some printer families use this solenoid in an optional 500-sheet feeder rather than the printer's primary internal cassette. Please confirm the failed solenoid location before ordering.
